How to Play the Bass Online for Free

An online interactive bass player is an excellent way to try the bass without the expense of buying one. An online bass player, or virtual bass, is designed the same as a physical bass. Experiment with the online bass by listening to the sound change as you move about on the strings. Many online bass players indicate the key as you strum the strings, thus making it an excellent learning experience as well as a little bit of fun.

Instructions

    • 1

Select an online bass player (see Resources). Most online bass players are free and do not require a download to your hard drive. Other virtual bass players, although free, may require you to register with a user name and password.

    • 2

Install the correct player in order for the bass to load on your computer. Some sites may require a free downloadable player if it is not already installed on your computer.

    • 3

Click or hover over a string to play a note. The open strings E, A, D and G are arranged like those on a real bass. The string indicator lets you know which note you are playing.

    • 4

Record yourself playing the bass by pressing the "Record" button if the site offers this option. Press "Play" to hear yourself playing the bass.

    • 5

Choose the "Help" button to learn more about playing the online bass player. This option will educate you on more features of the player, such as changing strings, custom tuning and bass guitar anatomy.
