Each line and space on the staff corresponds to a specific note. The notes are, in order from bottom to top:
* Line 1: E
* Space 1: F
* Line 2: G
* Space 2: A
* Line 3: B
* Space 3: C
* Line 4: D
* Space 4: E
To write a note on the staff, you place a note head on the appropriate line or space. The note head can be either solid or hollow. A solid note head represents a natural note, while a hollow note head represents a sharp note.
You can also add accidentals to notes to change their pitch. Accidentals are symbols that are placed before a note head to raise or lower its pitch by a half step. The most common accidentals are the sharp (#) and the flat (b). A sharp raises the pitch of a note by a half step, while a flat lowers the pitch of a note by a half step.
By combining lines, spaces, and accidentals, you can write any note on the staff.
