What is the most common musical scale?

The most common musical scale is the major scale, also known as the Ionian scale. It consists of seven notes, with a whole tone (two semitones) between the 3rd and 4th notes, and a semitone (one semitone) between the 7th and 8th notes (which is the same note as the first note, one octave higher). The major scale is widely used in Western music, including classical, jazz, and popular music.
