How to Create a Piano Recital Brochure

Preparing a brochure for a piano recital is not difficult with a word-processing program. There are several details to consider before you begin.

      Find out when the brochure must be ready to send or post. Build in extra time to be on the safe side. Confirm the details: when and where the recital is taking place, who is performing, the title of the event, what music will be performed, the cost to attend and the organization or teacher who is sponsoring the event. Include extra details, like whether there will be a reception following the event and how to get to the venue.

      Get any images that will appear in the brochure, like a photo of the performer.

      Decide what layout to use. Most piano recital brochures are printed on 8 1/2 by 11 inch paper in portrait orientation. If your software has an appropriate template, try it out. This may save time and give you a more professional-looking brochure.

      Input your information and arrange it in order of importance, with the most important information near the top.

      Experiment with fonts and formatting. Keep the number of fonts to a minimum, for a professional appearance. Use a larger font and center key pieces of information on the page. Space the information to fill the page.

      If you will be mailing the brochure, add a second page with the return address. Use a small font and start about 4 inches from the top of the page, at the left margin.

      Show the brochure to others to check for typos and make sure you've included everything. If that's not possible, put the brochure aside for a while and review it before moving on.

      Print the brochures yourself, email the file to recipients or bring a disk or printout to a copy center for printing.
