How to Recone Musical Instrument Speakers
Reconing a speaker is a task most likely to be attempted by those who have purchased a "stock" amplifier or an amp that comes with moderate to low-quality speakers. Frequently, the sound quality of an amp depends both on the equipment within the amp cabinet as well as the quality of the speaker. The most common example would be the replica amplifiers such as those made by Fender or Epiphone. These amps frequently use Chinese-made tubes and standard-quality paper-cone speakers. If you are a "tone perfectionist," you will want to upgrade the on-board speaker for better sound quality.
