How to Ground Tube Amps

Ungrounded amplifiers frequently develop a buzzing sound. Excess static electricity building up in the electrical components of your amp causes the buzz. The best way to remove static and properly ground your amp is to redirect the excess static by diverting the bothersome static to another metal surface that is near your amp, and this is the simplest solution.

    • 4

Cut a 7- to 8-inch piece of speaker wire.

    • 5

Separate the speaker wire at the seam.

    • 6

Strip away 1/2 inch of the wire's protective coating.

    • 7

Place one end of the speaker wire over a metal terminal.

    • 8

Re-attach the speaker contact over the wire, and wedge it in place.

    • 9

Locate a screw or metal surface inside your amp case.
