Upload the pictures you want to use for your slideshow from your digital camera card or by scanning photos into your computer. If you don't have a scanner, it's easy to get a CD made from negatives at the local drug store or photo shop. Store the pictures in the "My Pictures" folder on the computer, located under "My Documents."
Upload the song you want to use from a CD by inserting it into the computer's disc drive and opening Windows Media Player. From here, go to "Copy From CD" and choose the desired song, then click "Copy." It should automatically be added to your "My Music" file.
Open Windows Movie Maker.
Click on "File," then click "Import into Collections." Browse through the files to find the music track that will be used for the picture show. If you don't know where the song is off the top of your head, begin by looking in the "My Music" folder under "My Documents." Click "Import" when the song is found. Click and drag the track from the "Collections" window down into the timeline below. Make sure the beginning of the song starts at 0:00 by clicking and dragging the track all the way to the left.
Repeat Step 3, but instead of importing music, look in the "My Pictures" folder for the pictures that have been uploaded. Select the photos by double-clicking them one at a time. Drag them onto the timeline in the order that you'd like for them to appear in the picture show.
Lengthen or shorten the time that the pictures appear on the screen by clicking them in the timeline and stretching them. Save the movie onto your computer when finished by clicking "Finish Movie" and then "Save to my Computer." Go into the DVD burning program after saving the movie, and then select the picture show file from the "My Videos" folder. Put the finished DVD into a DVD player to be sure the process was successful.
