Scan older photos on to the computer using a scanner.
Create a new folder on the desktop to move all digital photos and music files. This is a crucial step in the process since it will be much easier to transfer the photos and music to the slideshow creator.
Open the either Windows Movie Maker or iMovie and open a new project.
Drag and drop the photo and music files from the desktop to the open project.
Drag the photo files from the top of the new project window to the bottom of the window. You will see a project timeline at the bottom and a series of blank frame. Fill up these frames with photos in any order that you like.
Drag and drop music files into the blank space at the bottom titled “Music.”
Click on the tab that says “Transitions” to add effects and various timing between the photos, such as fading in or out.
Click on the “Titles” tab to add titles, opening and ending credits. Drag and drop the titles and credit to when they should be along the storyline.
Insert a blank DVD into the DVD drive and in Windows Move Maker click “File” and “Publish Movie.” Choose “DVD” to burn the DVD. For iMovie, click “Export” and choose “DVD” to burn your project to a DVD.
Save your project.
