How to Transfer Music to a DVD

You can transfer music to a DVD by burning the DVD as a data DVD. To do so, you’ll simply need a computer with a DVD burner and a blank DVD-R disc. By burning a standard DVD-R as a data DVD, you will be able to store over four gigabytes of music on the DVD.

Instructions

  1. Using a Macintosh

      Open the Finder, click “File” and choose “Create New Burn Folder” from the options available. Then name the new burn folder that appears, to represent the music you will be transferring to the DVD.

      Double-click the new burn folder to open it. Then drag the music files that you would like to transfer to the DVD into this folder.

      Click “Burn” when finished dragging music into the folder. Then insert a blank DVD-R into your computer’s DVD burner. After doing so, the DVD will be burned as a data DVD.

    Using a PC

      Insert a blank DVD-R into your computer’s DVD burner.

      Select “Burn files to data disc” from the dialogue box that appears when your computer asks you what you would like to do with the blank DVD-R disc. Then name the data disc to represent the music you will be transferring to the DVD.

      Click “Show formatting options” and choose “Mastered” as your DVD formatting option. Then click “Next” to confirm this choice. After doing so, an empty disc folder will open.

      Drag the music files that you would like to transfer to the DVD into the disc folder.

      Click “Burn to disc” when finished dragging music into the folder. After doing so, the DVD will be burned as a data DVD.
