Visit legal free music Web sites. Examples are www.mymojo.com, www.ez-tracks.com, www.mpfree.com, and www.imesh.com.
Register with one or more sites, if required. Sites that require registration will have a link labeled "Register" or "Sign Up." Click the links and follow the instructions for registering.
On each site, locate songs or artists that you like. Most sites have multiple ways to locate artists and songs, such as by searching or browsing by name or musical genre.
Download songs by following the site's instructions. Note where your Web browser will store files you download. If you're not sure where that is, click on the "Tools" menu and then click on "Options" or "Preferences" in your browser window.
Add the songs to your Windows Media Player library. To do this, start Windows Media Player, click the arrow below the "Library" tab, and then click "Add to Library." In the Add to Library dialog box, click either "My personal folders" or "My folders and those of others that I can access," depending on where your music is stored. Click the "OK" button; Windows Media Player will add any new songs in those folders to its library.
