Open Windows Media Player and insert a blank CD.
Go to the options menu under \"Organize\" and click on the \"Rip Music\" tab. Under \"Rip Settings\" choose MP3 and make sure the box that says \"copy protect music\" is not checked. You can also change the settings for audio quality here, anything above 192 Kbps should be CD quality or higher. When you are finished apply the settings.
Drag the songs you want copied into the burn list. If the encryption on the files won't let you do this, skip to section two.
Add up to 79 minutes of music and then select \"Start Burn.\" Wait for burning to be complete and eject the CD.
Put the CD back in your computer. Let Windows Media Player rip the CD. The files ripped from the CD will by DRM-free MP3s
Download and install Audacity and the LAME MP3 Encoder for Audacity (links for both are in the resource section). After installation is complete launch both Audacity and Windows Media Player.
In Audacity go to \"preferences\" under the options menu. Click on the \"Audio I/O\" tab. Under \"recording\" select \"What U Hear.\" Also make sure the \"Software Playthrough\" tab is not checked. Click \"ok\" when done.
Go to the volume mixer, which is the small speaker in your start bar. There will be volume settings for each program you have open. Mute everything but Audacity and Windows Media Player by clicking on the little speaker symbol so they are crossed out.
Click the record button in Audacity and then play your encrypted WMA file in Windows Media Player. Audacity is recording the file as it plays. So do not pause, stop or skip through the playback. When the file is done playing click the stop button in Audacity. if you have dead space in beginning of your recording you can highlight it and hit delete to remove it.
Under \"File\" select \"Export as MP3.\" The first time you do this you will be need to locate the \"lame_enc.dll.\" Navigate to C:\\Program Files\\Lame for Audacity\" and select the file. Click \"open\" and then \"ok.\"
Chose the folder you want to save the file under and click \"save.\" Your new MP3 will not have any artist or song information, so you'll have to create that manually in Windows Media Player or whatever media player you use to play MP3s. Also be sure to un-mute your system when you're done recording.
