Launch the music composing application on the phone. Go to "Menu" > "Applications"/"Entertainment" and select "Melody Composer"/"Music DJ."
Select "New Melody"/"New Tone."
Enter different music notes. Nokia cell phones typically have notes c, d, e, f, g, a, and b with corresponding keys 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7. Sony Ericsson cell phones have MIDI drum, keyboard, guitar, bass and brass loops of different styles, which you can combine for creating melodies. Likewise, every phone has a different melody maker so you will have to look around and experiment.
Select each note/component and select "Insert" for adding to your melody. After each addition, you can go to the options and select "Play" to listen. This will give you an idea of how the melody sounds.
Some cell phones, such as Nokia phones, also give the option of increasing or decreasing the duration of each inserted note. If you have a Nokia phone, just press key 8 or 9 to lengthen or shorten the duration.
Save the melody when you're done composing. Go to "More" > "Save Melody." On some phones the options will vary, for instance, "Options" > "Save" > "OK." You can access the melody from the ring tones folder of your phone.
