How to Convert Music Formats

Music is distributed and shared in a number of different audio formats, which are either lossy compression (MP3, AAC, WMA), lossless compression (F4A, FLAC, WMA Lossless) or no compression (WAV, AIFF). Lossy compression provides the smallest file sizes, but sacrifices audio quality. Lossless compression does not sacrifice audio quality, but results in larger file sizes. Uncompressed audio has the largest file sizes. If you need to convert between audio formats, you can easily do so with a media converter, some of which are free.
