How to Transfer a Music CD to iTunes

ITunes is a great tool for transferring music CDs to your computer. Once you have set the CD importing option, you will be able to import an entire music CD in only a few clicks of your mouse. iTunes is already installed on all Macintosh computers, and it can be downloaded and installed for free on any Windows computer as well.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open iTunes.

    • 2

Open iTunes preferences. Do this by clicking “iTunes” and selecting “Preferences” if on a Macintosh computer or by clicking “Edit” and selecting “Preferences” on a Windows computer.

    • 3

Click “General.” Then click the drop-down menu next to “When you insert a CD” and select “Ask To Import CD.”

    • 4

Click “OK” to exit the iTunes Preferences menu.

    • 5

Insert the music CD into your computer that you would like to transfer to iTunes. After a moment, iTunes will prompt you to import the CD into your iTunes library.

    • 6

Click “Yes,” and iTunes will proceed to transfer the music CD to its library. Once iTunes is finished transferring the music CD to its library, it will signal you with a sound.

    • 7

Eject the music CD from your computer, and you will have successfully transferred a music CD to iTunes.
