How to Record Virtual Tracks on the Boss BR-8

The Boss BR-8 is a multitrack recorder that allows you to record not only eight separate tracks, but also a number of virtual tracks, known as "V-Tracks." These V-Tracks can be used for recording multiple takes of tracks like guitar solos, so that you can choose the best version that you want to include in the final project recording. If you are new to using the BR-8's virtual tracks feature, don't worry. With the right instruction, you can record to them in less than a minute.

Instructions

    • 1

Press one of the eight track numbers located underneath the mixer's faders to select the track to record to. The buttons will be yellow when there are no previous recordings put onto them.

    • 2

Press the "V-Track" button that is located to the left of the mixer panel on the recorder. This will tell the Boss BR-8 to record a virtual track.

    • 3

Press "Record" and then "Play to begin recording a take to one of the virtual tracks. When you are satisfied with the recording, press "Stop." Repeat steps 1 through 3 for up to eight virtual tracks in total.
