The SHOUTcast software turns your PC into a server whose broadcast capability depends on your outgoing bandwidth and the broadcast bandwidth. If, for example, you are broadcasting with an outgoing bandwith of 512kbs and you are broadcasting 128kbs MP3 files, then your listening audience is limited to two (256/128 = 2).
Follow the included documentation to configure your SHOUTcast software. SHOUTcast does not install ready to broadcast and will require specific configuration. Configuration requires knowing your IP address, an Internet address unique to your computer, which can be obtained through an Internet site. Your configuration depends on variables, such as broadcast format (MP3, ogg, wav), outgoing bandwidth (128kbs, 64kbs, 32kbs) and other elements.
Download and install the SHOUTcast DSP plug-in for WinAmp. The plug-in automatically broadcasts any audio files played through the full version of WinAmp software. Alternatively, you can download and install the SHOUTcast Transcoder Software for more advanced, but more complex, features such as playlist management, schedules, multiple-DJ management and other elements.
