How to Incorporate Your DJ Name in a Track

Incorporating your DJ name into a track can be a great way of leaving your signature. Whether you are producing a brand new track or making a remix of someone else's, you are going to want to let your audience know that they are feeling like dancing because of you. Adding samples to your mixes is a way to add a bit of your personal flavor to the track, and using your DJ name as a sample will ensure that people remember who was getting the party moving.

Instructions

    • 1

Record your DJ name with your microphone using the record function in the DAW of your choosing. If you have a microphone that connects directly to your computer you can simply plug it in, open your DAW and hit record. If the microphone does not connect directly to the computer, you will need to run it into an audio interface, then run the audio interface into your computer before recording in your DAW. You can make your DJ name sound any way you choose to record it, so figure out how you want to say it, then record. You may choose to record it yourself, or select someone with a voice you like to record it for you.

    • 2

Import the audio sample of your DJ name into your DAW using the sampler. Each DAW's sampler is different, but if you have trouble figuring out the one you are using, look in the reference guide provided in all programs.

    • 3

Alter the sound of the sample to make it sound exactly how you imagined it. You may consider pitch modification, distortion, or any number of other plugins to achieve the specific sound you desire.

    • 4

Find a rhythmically strategic place in the song to place the sample of your DJ name. You want your DJ name to mix smoothly into the track without disrupting the flow on the dance floor, so find a place that it will fit with the beat. A transition -- between record changes as you're spinning -- can be a great place to place a sample since the people in the audience audience will hear it right before you drop the next beat to get them feeling good.

    • 5

Insert the sample into the track using your sampler at the place you have selected.

    • 6

Adjust the timing and volume of the sample to fit into your track the way you want it to.
