Double-click your digital audio workstation's desktop icon to launch it. Drag and drop iZotope Ozone 3 from the VST plugins section to the master channel of the mixer. If you want to start with a preset, click one, then click "OK"; if you want to start from scratch, click "Cancel."
Click "Paragraphic Equalizer." Click "Active" underneath the effect name to enable the EQ. Click and drag the small green circles in the equalizer window to raise and lower the volumes of different frequency bands. Adjust the EQ to highlight the parts of the sound spectrum that sound good and remove those that sound bad.
Click "Loudness Maximizer." Click "Active" to enable it. Drag the "Threshold" slider slowly downward to increase the loudness. Keep an eye on the volume meter on the right-hand side of the window and if the levels start to reach 0dB, reduce the volume. Drag the "Character" slider left and right to change the type of compression that Ozone uses.
Click "Multiband Dynamics," then click "Active" underneath it. Click and drag the frequency bands at the top of the window to divide the track's sonic spectrum into sections. Click on a band, then adjust the "Band Gain," "Ratio" and "Thres" sliders to determine how much compression Ozone applies to the frequency range. Repeat this process for the other bands.
Click "Multiband Harmonic Exciter" and activate it. Click and drag the frequency bands to carve up the frequency spectrum as desired. Drag the "Amt" and "Mix" sliders up and down to determine how much presence Ozone adds to each frequency band.
Click on and activate "Multiband Stereo Imaging." Adjust the frequency bands as desired, then drag the "Widening" slider under each band upward to increase the stereo field or downward to decrease it. Generally, the lower frequencies should have a narrower stereo field than the higher frequencies.
Click "Mastering Reverb" and activate the effect. Adjust the "Dry" and "Wet" sliders to determine how much reverb Ozone applies to the signal. Change the reverb settings as desired by moving the "Room Size," "Room Damping," "Pre-Delay" and "Width" sliders.
Click and drag the slider under each effect name to determine how much of each effect iZotope Ozone applies to the mix. When everything sounds balanced, close Ozone and save the track.
