How to Increase the Bitrate of Audio Files

When music is encoded as an .mp3 file or another lossy format, it retains a bitrate that is contingent on the amount of compression of the file. Sometimes, however, the bitrate may need to increased to meet the requirements of certain digital audio and video players. While increasing the bitrate of an audio file is a fairly simple task with the help of any of a number of software programs, it further compresses the file and compromised the audio quality.

      Download and install an audio-conversion software program. Many software programs are available for free or as shareware online. Although you do not to convert your file to a different format, most commercial audio-conversion software programs can increase the bitrate of an audio file.
