How to Sell You Albums for Free

Your album is recorded and ready to go. Now on to step two -- selling it. This is the "business" side of the music business. Finding a website and uploading your music doesn't mean you're selling it. To make sales you'll have to pour a lot of time into promoting the album. It will take as much effort as making the music and chances are it won't be as fun. But if you persevere, eventually people will hear about your music.

Instructions

Visit an online music store site such as MyMusicSite.com. This free service takes a cut of $2 per album sold (you set the selling price). Click on "Sign up now -- free."

    • 2

Type in a name for your online music store. This name will appear after the slash in MyMusicSite.com. Be careful when choosing a name as this URL can't be changed. Enter your member name, email address, password, member type, registration type and personal details.

Click on the "How did you hear about us?" drop-down box and make your selection. Read the "Terms and Conditions" and click on the box to agree to those terms. Click "Submit."

Promote your music. Get as much traffic as possible from social media sites such as Facebook and MySpace to go directly to your music store. Hand out fliers at performances. Put up posters around the city. Generate a fan mail list and regularly send updates to keep fans interested. Online promotion is generally free, but is a lot of work. The options are endless, so keep on exploring new ways to promote yourself and get the word out about your music.
