Did black people invent rock n roll?

While rock and roll emerged from various influences and contributions, its birth in the post-World War II United States can indeed be largely attributed to the significant role played by African American musicians and the musical style known as rhythm and blues (R&B), which was a primary precursor to rock and roll.
