What happens when an XYZ monster is to be returned the hand in Yu-Gi-Oh?

When an XYZ Monster is returned to the hand, the following happens:

1. Detach all XYZ Materials: The XYZ Monster's XYZ Materials are detached and sent to the Extra Deck. This is a crucial part of the effect, as it allows for those materials to be used again for summoning other XYZ Monsters.

2. XYZ Monster is sent to the hand: The XYZ Monster itself is then sent to the hand of the player who controlled it.

Important Notes:

* No effect triggers: The act of returning an XYZ Monster to the hand does not trigger any specific effects on the XYZ Monster itself or the XYZ Materials.

* No "banishment" or "destruction": Returning an XYZ Monster to the hand is not the same as banishing it or destroying it. It simply returns to the owner's hand and can be used again.

Example:

If a player controls "Number 39: Utopia" with two XYZ Materials attached, and an opponent's card effect forces them to return "Number 39: Utopia" to their hand, the following occurs:

1. The two XYZ Materials are detached and sent to the Extra Deck.

2. "Number 39: Utopia" is sent to the player's hand.

The player can then potentially use the detached XYZ Materials to summon another XYZ Monster, or use "Number 39: Utopia" again by summoning it from their hand.
