Alan White is an English drummer, best known as a member of the rock band Yes since 1972. White has also played with John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ginger Baker's Air Force.
White was born in Pelton, County Durham, England, on June 14, 1949. He began playing drums at the age of six, and by the age of 12 he was playing professionally. White's early influences included Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, and Ringo Starr.
In 1968, White joined the band Ginger Baker's Air Force. He left the band in 1970 to join John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band. White played on Lennon's albums Imagine (1971) and Some Time in New York City (1972).
In 1972, White joined Yes, replacing Bill Bruford. White has remained a member of Yes ever since, and has played on all of their studio albums since 1973.
