On your computer, log on to the game show's website: 5thgradertvshow.com.
Click the link that says "Test your brain power with our weekly quiz." This will take you to a quiz with five questions to answer.
Press "Submit" after answering the five questions; the website will take you to a page that grades the quiz and tells you whether you are smarter than a 5th grader. (If you answer four out of five questions correctly, then, according to game rules, you are smarter than a 4th grader. With three out of five correct answers, you are smarter than a 3rd grader, and so on.)
Purchase the "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?" board game or DVD game to play a more interactive version of the game with other people. The DVD version has onscreen instructions that help you navigate through the screens, but the basic instructions are the same as the online, television and board game version: you are asked questions that correspond to a particular elementary school grade level, and your answers determine whether you win the game and are, in fact, "smarter than a 5th grader."
If you would like to play the game but prefer not to purchase either game or play online, check your local listings to find out when the television version of "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader" airs, and play along with that version by answering the questions, along with the on-air contestants.
