Send the first family member from each team to the front for a face-off. One question is given and the two face-off contestants try to ring in first to answer the question. The family member who rings in first gives the first answer. If the answer given is not the number one answer, the other face-off contestant gets a chance to respond. The contestant who provided the highest-rated answer gets to decide whether their family would like to play the current round or pass to the opposing family.
Continue play by allowing the family who is starting the round to try and give the remaining answers for the question. Play continues one by one as the family members either uncover another answer to the question or they get a strike for incorrect answers. After three strikes if all the answers are not uncovered, the opposing family gets one try to give a collaborative answer to the question. If the opposing family is able to give one correct answer, they receive all the points for the uncovered answers. If the opposing family is not able to give a correct answer, the family who received the three strikes will be awarded all of the points. Only one family receives points during each round.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 in the same manner. The only difference for round two is that the second family member from each team will be the new face-off contestants and this round is worth double the points.
Repeat steps 1 and 2 in the final round. The third family member from each team are the face-off contestants and this round is worth triple the points. Whichever family has the most points at the end of the third round moves on to the "Fast Money" round.
Play the Fast Money round for a chance to win $20,000 (as of 2009). The winning family selects two team members to participate in the Fast Money round. The first player is given 20 seconds to answer five survey questions. The second player waits in an isolation booth so they can not hear the answers given. After the five questions are answered, the points for each question are tallied and the second family member takes a turn answering the same questions in 25 seconds. No duplicate answers are allowed. After both family members have played, their points are tallied and if the combined score is 200 or more, the family wins the prize money.
