When was the first television newscast?

The first televised news broadcast in the United States took place on July 1, 1941, over station WNBT in New York City. The broadcast, which lasted just fifteen minutes, was anchored by Richard Hubbell and covered news of World War II and the ongoing New York City mayoralty campaign. While NBC claims this as the first official telecast, on February 19, 1930 the BBC ran what is referred to as the world's first experimental television newsreel.
