How to Make Naruto Hand Seals

The popular anime television series "Naruto" features a colorful cast of characters who display a wide variety of special powers channeled through chakra. These powers are often initiated with the help of hand seals, which are based on the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac. The 12 seals are used in a variety of ways to manipulate chakra in the series.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your hands together, palms touching, with your left hand about an inch lower than your right. Curl your left hand's pinky and ring fingers and straighten its middle and index fingers. With your right hand, grip the side of the left hand's middle and index finger, and then curl your index finger over the tips of the pointed fingers on your left hand. This first seal is known as the Rat.

    • 2

Place your hands perpendicular to each other with the right hand parallel to the ground. On your left hand, point the pinky and index finger upward and bend your ring and middle fingers forward. Lace the fingers of your right hand through the fingers on your left. Make sure that the right pinky finger is on the outside of the left pinky finger and that the fingers on your right hand remain parallel to the ground. This second seal is known as the Ox.

    • 3

Place your palms together. Lace your pinky and ring fingers together, keeping the middle fingers, index fingers and thumbs pointing upward. This third sign is known as the Tiger.

    • 4

Point the index finger of your left hand to the right and keep the thumb partially elevated while curling the other fingers inward. Curl all of the fingers on the right hand underneath the curled fingers on your left except for your pinky, which should point left and be placed between the thumb and index finger of your left hand. This fourth sign is known as the Rabbit.

    • 5

Place your hands together and point them forward. Place your left thumb above and behind your right thumb. Lace your index, middle and ring fingers together. Point both pinky fingers toward the ground. This fifth sign is the Dragon.

    • 6

Place your hands together and lace all of your fingers together, making sure the right pinky is on the outside of the seal and that the right thumb is folded slightly between your palms. This sixth sign is the Snake.

    • 7

Face your palms inward and parallel to your body. Curl your pinky, ring and middle fingers inward and lace them together, making sure the left pinky is on the bottom. Touch the tips of your index fingers together, creating a triangle on top of the seal. Bend your thumbs so that their tips are touching the base of their respective index fingers. This seventh sign is the Horse.

    • 8

Place your palms together with your hands pointing upward. Place your left pinky and ring finger between the right ring finger and right middle finger. Keep the left middle and index finger pointed upward. Curl all the fingers on your right hand except the thumb, which should remain extended. This eighth sign is the Ram.

    • 9

Face your left palm upward with your right palm on top of it, parallel to the ground. Place your right pinky between your left thumb and index finger with the rest of your fingers lying flat on top of each other. This ninth sign is known as the Monkey.

    • 10

Place the tips of your pinky and middle fingers together in the form of a triangle. Hook your ring and index fingers together in between your palms. Place the tips of your thumbs together, pointed toward your body. This 10th sign is the Bird.

    • 11

Make a fist with your right hand and place it underneath the palm of your left hand. This 11th sign is the Dog.
