List of NBC Affiliates in Pennsylvania

Founded in 1926 by David Sarnoff, The National Broadcasting Company (NBC) has been a powerhouse in the world of media. NBC television broadcasts began in 1939 and the network's connection with Pennsylvania was established a year later when NBC aired the Republican National Convention from Philadelphia. As of 2011, NBC has several affiliates located throughout the Keystone State.
  1. WICU-TV

    • WICU-TV Channel 12 is an NBC affiliate in Erie, PA. WICU-TV was founded by Edward Lamb and the channel started to broadcast in 1949. It was an affiliate for CBS, ABC and the defunct DuMont network before becoming an NBC affiliate in 1954. WICU-TV is available in Crawford, Erie, Warren and Venango counties in Pennsylvania, Southwest New York and Southeast Ohio.

    WGAL

    • The NBC affiliate located in Lancaster, PA is WGAL. WGAL is known as News 8 and it is owned by Hearst Television. WGAL is a part of the Harrisburg-Lancaster-Lebanon-York television market. The station's signal also reaches to some areas of Maryland close to the Pennsylvania border.

    WJAC-TV

    • WJAC-TV, an NBC affiliate for viewers in the Allegheny Region, began broadcasting in 1949 in Johnstown, PA and was owned by the Johnstown Automotive Company. The station's main broadcast area is the Johnstown-Altoona market, but also covers State College and surrounding counties.

    WCAU

    • WCAU NBC 10 is an NBC affiliate that covers the Philadelphia Region; the largest television market in PA. It became an NBC affiliate in 1995 when KYW became a CBS affiliate. Available throughout the Delaware Valley, Southern and Central New Jersey and parts of Delaware, WCAU is owned and operated by NBCUniversal unlike other NBC affiliates in Pennsylvania.

    WPXI

    • The NBC affiliate for the Pittsburgh television market is WPXI, Channel 11. WPXI is owned by Cox Communications WPXI was founded in 1957 and became the city's second VHF broadcast channel and has always been an NBC affiliate. Along with syndicated programming and NBC network programming, WPXI broadcasts local programming such as Our Region's Business.

    WBRE-TV

    • The first station in the Northeastern Pennsylvania market was WBRE-TV. WBRE-TV broadcasts from Wilkes-Barre WBRE-TV broadcasts local news from Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and surrounding region, and covers local sports team such as the minor-league Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees baseball team and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, an AHL hockey team.
