Calculate the percentage of the target audience from the total audience in each target. This can be done using rate cards like Alexa or SRDS and usual market research. For example, 50 percent of viewers see the ad each of the four times it airs, and the target audience is 36 percent of that audience.
Determine GRP, or rate times frequency. For example, using the same numbers from the previous step, the percent of viewers (50) times the frequency of the ad (4) equals 200 GRP.
Determine TRP by multiplying GRP by the target audience percentage. For example, GRP (200) multiplied by the target audience percent (36%) equals 72. Thus, the TRP equals 72 and the campaign is not terribly effective.
