First news paper of Tamil Nadu?

The first newspaper in Tamil Nadu was the _Tamil Patrika_, founded in 1833 by a Christian missionary, Rev. C.P. Brown, in Madras (present-day Chennai). The paper was published weekly in both Tamil and English, and focused on news, politics, and social issues. It played an important role in promoting social reform and nationalist ideas in Tamil Nadu. The _Tamil Patrika_ continued to be published until the early 20th century.
