Determine your eligibility. You can use SAG's online eligibility checker at SAG.com (see "References" below for a full link).
Submit either an original paycheck stub or an original activity printout or report from the payroll company once you've been deemed eligible. If the eligibility checker deems you ineligible, but you have met the eligibility requirements, this document must contain your name, social security number, the name of the production company, the title of the production, the salary paid in dollar amount and the specific date or dates worked. The SAG Membership Services Department will only accept this document directly from the payroll company. You will also need to submit a piece of paper with your name, current address, current telephone number and date of birth, as well as a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Mail all necessary documents. Send them to: Screen Actors Guild,
Attn: Membership Services Department -- Proof of Eligibility, 5757 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036.
Make an appointment with your nearest SAG office. Find the nearest SAG office online at SAG.com.
Pay your initiation fee. During your initial appointment, you will need to pay the initiation fee of $2,277 and the first semi-annual basic dues payment of $58, totaling $2,335. Your initiation fee may be lower if you work in a branch area outside of Hollywood, Calif.
Being working as a SAG-approved actor. Once SAG has given its approval, you will receive your membership package and SAG card.
