Child Acting Schools

A great way to encourage the budding actor in your child is by enrolling her in an acting school. Different than drama classes, acting schools tend to be more serious and tailored towards getting your child a job as a television, commercial or movie actor. While success is never guaranteed in a highly competitive field like acting, the training your child will get at an acting school may give him an edge on his competition.

  1. The Young Actor's Studio

    • The Young Actor's Studio was founded in 1996 by Jeff Alan-Lee. Alan-Lee has taught acting to stars such as Shia Lebeouf and Scarlett Johansson. Located in Los Angeles,the goal of The Young Actor's Studio is to develop the skills of the young actor so he can perform in any medium he desires, be it television, movies or theater. Classes offered include acting on camera, acting technique and professional acting coaching. To be accepted into the school, potential students must complete the interview process that consists of a meet and greet, tour of the school and individual coaching session with a parent present.

    TVI Actors Studio

    • TVI is a school that teaches your child the business aspects of an acting career as well as perfecting the skills she will need to be a successful actor. TVI opened its first school in New York in 1986 and opened a second studio in Los Angeles in 1988. Youth classes and summer camps are available with curriculum focused on audition techniques, acting essentials, scene study and agent evaluation. Classes are open to children age 5 to 17 and are taught by leading kid talent agents, acting coaches, managers and producers.

    Drama Kids International

    • Drama Kids International is a franchised acting school for kids with over 50,000 students currently enrolled. Drama Kids International teaches children acting, speaking, leadership and creative thinking through its curriculum. Classes are divided by age group and include preschool workshops for kids 3 to 4 years old, Kinderkids class for children 5 to 6 year old, lower primary class for those 5 to 8 years old and upper primary classes for kids 9 to 11.
