Record your video. AFV recommends a resolution of 720 by 486 and a frame rate of 30 frames per second.
Save your video to your computer in one of the following formats: WMV, AVI, MOV or MPG.
Check the size of your video file. One way to do that is to right-click on the file's icon in Windows Explorer and select "Properties" from the menu that pops up. The file should not be larger than 300 Mb.
Visit the AFV submission page and click on the "Upload Now" button.
Sign in to ABC.com. If you have a membership at ABC.com, you can use that. Or you can sign in using your Facebook, MySpace or Twitter ID. You will be prompted to create a membership if you don't have one (it's free). Make sure the membership you choose has your current email address and phone number attached to it, since AFV will use that to contact you.
Complete the submission form, typing in a title and description for your video, and choosing a category. Click on the "Browse" button and find the video file on your computer, and click on "OK." Click on the boxes to state that you agree to their terms of use and their rules. Then select "Submit Now."
Watch for an email from AFV containing a Web Identification number.
Visit the AFV website again and click on the "Release Forms" link. Download the release forms and print them on your printer. Fill them out, include the web Identification number you received in the email, and sign them. Mail them to the address included on the form. If your video will be used on AFV, they will contact you.
