Determine whether or not you are eligible to audition for "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire." You must be at least 18 years old and a resident of one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia. You are not eligible if you have previously appeared as a main contestant on either the game show's old primetime version hosted by Regis Philbin or the current syndicated show hosted by Meredith Vieira.
Navigate to the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" website (dadt.com/millionaire).
Click on the "Auditions" link at the top of the page.
Click on the "Sign up for your New York City audition" link. Check the dates posted for auditions, as well as the locations around the country where auditions will also be held. To audition, you must sign up in advance.
Complete the online audition request form. Select your preferred audition dates from the drop-down menus and enter your contact information into the appropriate fields.
Click the "Submit" button to send in your audition request. The show will send you an e-mail confirmation with details concerning your audition's date, time and location. New York City auditions are held at the ABC Building (abc.go.com; 57 W. 66th St., New York).
Attend your "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" audition. Bring a picture ID, such as your driver's license to prove your identity, residency and age. If you pass the audition round, which includes a written test, you move on to the interview round. If you pass the interview round, you will be added to the "Contestant Pool" and may receive a qualifying phone call to come to New York to appear as a contestant on the show.
