How to Write an Ethics Paper About a Movie

Writing about the ethics portrayed in a movie helps you understand the film better by analyzing its plot and characters in depth and presenting an opinion about controversial themes in the movie. Your paper about the ethical quality of a movie should be an expository essay. This will require you to examine an idea pertaining to the ethics of the movie, extrapolate evidence about your idea and present a concise thesis statement.

Instructions

Analyze the movie. Brainstorm what you liked and what you disliked about the plot, characters and action. Ask yourself whether you agreed with the main message of the movie and whether it was ethical or not. Some ethical qualities you can consider are honesty, justice, respect, dignity, civil obedience, confidentiality and environmental stewardship.

Divide your ideas about the movie into paragraphs. Address the ethical nature of the main theme in one paragraph. Examine the language of the movie and its moral quality in another. Write a third main paragraph analyzing the ethical character of different people in the movie or discussing the ethical views of the producer or director and how these influenced the movie.

Write an introduction and conclusion. Give a brief plot synopsis of the movie, in addition to a thesis about its ethical character, in the introduction. State your own overall judgment about the movie's ethical character in your conclusion.

Revise your essay for grammatical errors and quality of content. Write your final draft.
