How to Create Screen Posters for Videos

The business of making movies has changed drastically with the onset of digital video, high definition video, digital sound and non-linear editing. Accordingly, marketing of movies has changed just as much with many independent filmmakers opting to market their films in an online viral format. A key to successfully marketing films is a solid screen poster, known as a one-sheet. A screen poster for your movie can be made with editing software and an eye for detail.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your video file in your editing software.

    • 2

Start your video carefully watching for unique shots to identify your video or film.

    • 3

Pause your video at the desired image; take a screen shot of the image, saving the file to your hard drive.

    • 4

Open your word processor; open the screen shot you saved in the 'add image' tab.

    • 5

Upload your image to the blank page. Grab the lower corner of your image with the cursor and slowly pull it away from the opposite corner - expanding the image. The image can be expanded to fill the page, provided the original file is large enough to prevent quality loss of the image.

Add the appropriate content to compel your audience to view your video. Be sure to include necessary information such as: your title, the length of your video (running time), your format (NTSC or PAL), name of your production company and any special features.

    • 7

Add additional graphics and images, if necessary. Save your file.

    • 8

Take your file to a local printer; print the video screen poster (one sheet) to the size of 24'' x 36'' on 20 lb. glossary stock paper.
