Read the first scene in the script and visualize how you want that scene to be depicted on screen. Decide whether you want a wide shot, an extreme close up or another angle.
Draw the visual of the scene into a square on the storyboard template. You can use simple lines and stick figures. This will look like a comic strip as you populate each square with a new image. Make sure each scene shows the five W's: Who, What, When, Where and Why.
Draw each scene until you have an image of every shot in the script. Be sure to number each storyboard so you can keep them in order when you go to shoot the scenes.
Review the completed storyboard to make sure every scene has an image and description. Check the flow of the storyboard before filming to be sure that all scenes work well in the sequence they are in.
