"Turandot" is an animated film produced by the Shanghai Animation Film Studio. It is based on the 1762 Italian opera of the same name by Carlo Gozzi, which in turn is based on a story in "One Thousand and One Nights".
The film tells the story of Prince Calaf, who comes from a faraway country to win the heart of Princess Turandot. In order to do so, he must solve three riddles posed by the princess. If he fails, he will be executed.
The film was released in China in 1964 and received critical acclaim for its beautiful animation and rich music. It has been praised as one of the best Chinese animated films of all time.
