The first of the "Star Wars" releases begins with the iconic scene of disappearing words telling the tale of the evil Galactic Empire and the Rebellion, trailing over the moving huge ship of the Empire. This movie introduces the basic trio of Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, along with Princess Leia Organa. All movies that follow build on this opening story.
This film is set three years after the destruction of the Death Star. Luke Skywalker trains with Yoda, Darth Vader tries to tempt Luke over to the dark side, Han Solo is revealed as a reluctant hero and Darth Vader is discovered to be Luke's father.
This movie is the conclusion of the first trilogy, in which the Empire tries to crush the Rebellion with an even bigger Death Star. Luke confronts his father. Vader recants his evil ways, destroying the Emperor and saving his son. The galaxy is saved and Leia is revealed to be Luke's sister. This movie is known for some iconic items, such as Princess Leia's metal bikini and the much-loved and also much-hated furry little Ewoks.
This film is set 32 years before the original movie. Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Jedi master find a slave boy unusually strong with the Force. They claim this boy, Anakin Skywalker, and begin training him as a Jedi. The Jedi, along with Queen Amidala, face a growing force known as the Sith.
In this story, Anakin Skywalker is Obi-Wan's apprentice and an accomplished young Jedi. The two are assigned to protect Queen Padme Amidala, and Anakin and Padme fall in love. All three of these people make choices that will change the Republic.
In the last "Star Wars" original movie made to date, the Jedi Knights have been leading a clone army. The Sith reveal their plot to rule the Galaxy, and the evil Galactic Empire is born. Anakin turns to the dark side, Yoda and Obi-Wan must go into hiding, and the only hope left lies within Anakin and Padme's twin children, who become known as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa.
