How to Make Movie Dates Fun

Going to the movies is a time-honored dating experience. For the most part, movie dates can be entertaining, but not always fun. You buy a ticket, seat yourself in the theater, and probably spend half the time wondering whether or not your date will end in a kiss goodnight. With a little creative thinking, you can turn a not-so-fun movie date into something both you and your date will remember for a long time to come.

Find out what type of movies your date enjoys. Before you can consider having fun at the theater, you should at least choose a movie that will be enjoyable. If your date isn't fond of blood and gore, a horror movie will probably not inspire a good time. You can, however, consider a surprise movie -- something your date doesn't expect, such as a movie normally though of as a kids movie. Comedies can also be fun. Avoid the romantic comedy if you're on your first date. With romantic comedies, you risk appearing overeager and may even put a little tension in the air.

Sneak popcorn, candy and soda into the theater. Buying snacks at the theater can be expensive, so this is not only a good way to save money, it can be fun sneaking in your own snacks and sharing them. Stop at the store on your way to the theater so your date and you can pick the snacks out together. Most theaters prohibit this, and getting caught may result in your being asked to leave the theater. It may also result in your being asked not to return. Also, as a first date, this may not be a good idea. It could make you look cheap, which could result in losing the opportunity for a second date.

Dress up as characters in the movie you're going to see. If it isn't Halloween, you're likely to get a few stares, but going to a theater in costume can add an element of fun to the date and make the two of you the center of attention. If you're not shy, this can lead to a good time.

Hang up a sheet in the back yard, start a bonfire and bring the TV and DVD player outside for a movie under the stars. Not only is it fun to roast marshmallows and hot dogs while you watch a movie with your date, being under the stars adds a romantic element that can make your movie date a big success.
