50 Best Mystery Movies of the 90s

Mystery movies are designed to keep viewers on the edge of their seats, waiting for the next twist in the plot. While the mystery genre has its roots in early decades, plenty of titles that fit the bill hit theaters during the 1990s. Mystery films in the 1990s helped bolster the resumes of such actors as Brad Pitt and Kevin Spacey and directors such as Quentin Tarantino.

    • "Barton Fink" tells the story of an aspiring screenwriter, and "Dead Again" is an homage to film noir directed by Kenneth Branagh. "The Silence of the Lambs" tells the story of a serial killer, and "The Fisher King" stars Jeff Bridges and Robin Williams. "Cape Fear" is a remake of a mystery about a vengeful convicted rapist.
