Famous Roommates

Roommates: nearly everyone has had one (or currently has one). Although, an ex-roommate can end up successful and rich, it's rare when a roommate ends up famous. Rarer still is when both roommates move on to become famous. However, it happens. Many famous individuals lived together while at college or on the road to fame.
  1. Film Stars

    • There are a number of well-known film stars who roomed together. While studying at Julliard, Robin Williams and Christopher Reeves lived together and director Judd Apatow lived with actor Adam Sandler long before they made "Funny People." Jude Law and Ewan McGregor lived together early in their careers, as did Robert Downey Jr. and Kiefer Sutherland. Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman shared an apartment together in New York City. Eventually, Hoffman moved out and lived with Robert Duvall. Michael Douglas and Danny Devito shared digs in New York City in the 1960s.

    Televsion Stars

    • "Glee" gals Dianna Agron and Lea Michele roomed together in 2009 during the filming of their popular show. Penn Badgley of "Gossip Girl" and Milo Ventimiglia of "Heroes" shared an apartment in 2006. Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick, also of "Gossip Girl" fame, lived together early in the filming of the show.

    Musicians

    • Paula Abdul and Kara DioGuardi were roommates long before they sat on the judges' panel of "American Idol" together. Also of "American Idol" fame, stars Adam Lambert and Kris Allen became friends and decided to share a space after their season aired.

    Politicians

    • Former President Bill Clinton and former deputy Secretary of State Strobe Talbott were roommates at Oxford. Al Gore, former Vice President, roomed with famous actor Tommy Lee Jones at Harvard in the 1960s. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Janet Hill, mother of NBA player Grant Hill, lived together while at Wellesley. Christiane Amanpour, an anchor of ABC News' "This Week," shared a house with John F. Kennedy Jr. while he was at Brown.

    Sports Stars

    • Many sports stars have also been roommates. National Football League stars Reggie Wayne and Ed Reed roomed together at the University of Miami. NFL star Joe Montana and coach Charlie Weis roomed together in the 1970s at Notre Dame. Marcus Allen and Ronnie Lott, another set of NFL superstars, lived together during their time at University of Southern California. Super Bowl-winning coach Tony Dungy and Flip Saunders, head coach of the Washington Wizards, roomed together at the University of Minnesota.
