How to Make a Cake-Photo Prop
A cake-photo prop can be used for any number of reasons, such as for display at a bakery, display at fairs and festivals or for use in a film, television or theater production. Whatever your reason for needing a cake-photo prop, use images of real cakes as opposed to paintings or drawings, which will take away from the realness of the prop. Use drawings of cakes only if it coincides with the mood you are trying to create, whether for a show or for display.

1
Take a picture of an actual cake, or print a cake picture from an online site. Cut the picture at the cake edges. Do not leave any excess paper.
-
2
Trace the image onto a piece of card stock. Leave 3 to 5 inches (depending on the prop's size) at the bottom of the piece of card stock to bend for propping the image up.

3
Cut out the piece of card stock. Glue it to your cake image, remembering to leave some space at the bottom for folding. Allow to dry.

4
Fold the bottom piece of the card stock so the cake prop stands upright. Use as desired.
