Video Production Ideas for Middle School

Producing a video can be a great way to teach video classes, video production, or even fund raise in middle school. By choosing an interesting topic and simplifying the steps, nearly anyone can produce a decent-quality video using a camcorder and a computer.
  1. Sports Team Video

    • Sports are a popular activity and genre for video production. Shooting as much footage as possible is imperative to get footage that will excite an audience. Focus on one sport or several depending on the scope of your project. If the project is “Football 2009,” plan on shooting footage throughout the entire season. However, if the project is, for example, “Kennedy Middle School Sports Program 2009,” plan on shooting for the entire academic year.

    Music Video

    • The music program in a middle school can be a great place from which to produce a video. Shooting concerts, parades, as well as rehearsals will give an entertaining view of the program. Incorporate the band, as well as chorus for a more comprehensive view of the entire arts program.

    Video Year Book

    • Using the year book as a theme. Shoot contextual footage throughout the year to produce as a video yearbook. Be sure to get footage of everyone and group into classes and themes for menu cataloging.

    Dance Team

    • Many middle school now have dance teams. A video produced about a dance team would be exciting and most closely akin to young peoples likes. Shoot routines, rehearsals, and get some back ground information on the dancers as well as coaches.
