Creative Capital is a grant distribution company that claims to be the only "open application" grant program in the United States catering to multiple art disciplines. As of July 2010, Creative Capital is accepting grant applications from February 1st to March 1st, 2011, for film projects. Applicants must be citizens of the United States, have at least five years of professional work experience, and be 25 years of age or older.

The Pacific Pioneer Fund assists documentary short filmmakers in California, Oregon and Washington with the money necessary to make a project a reality. The Fund accepts applications on April 15th, August 15th, and December 15th. Grants range from $1,000 to $10,000 USD, with a total of $100,000 USD awarded every year. Filmmakers must have "a few years" of production experience, with no more than ten.

Founded by philanthropist Jerome Hill, The Jerome Foundation provides thousands of dollars each year to emerging filmmakers in New York and Minnesota. The Jerome Foundation grant does not have a deadline for submissions, but does advise applicants that they'll wait four to five months for a response to their submission. The Foundation typically funds short films that will advance the career of the filmmaker, regardless of age or experience.

Panavision is a company best known for its film camera equipment, which is used in a large percentage of professional feature and short films around the world. Panavision offers a production grant to new short filmmakers in the form of donated camera equipment. New filmmakers must submit the necessary application materials, including a film budget, script, personnel list, synopsis, and cover letter explaining the status of their project. Applicants are advised to submit their application at least two months before the shoot date of their project. Selected applicants receive the free use of a 16-millimeter or 35-millimeter camera.
