How to Play Back an 8MM Tape

The 8mm video format has been around since the 1930s when Kodak brought it to market. The size and quality of the tape made it popular for families when they were on vacation or for any other special event. While there is no converter to use with an 8mm tape, you can view the tapes by using the camcorder used to tape the 8mm tape and attaching this to your TV.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the power cord from the 8mm camcorder into a wall socket in your house.

    • 2

Plug the camcorder's AV (audio/video) cords first into the camcorder itself and plug the other end into your TV. The cable plugs will likely be color coded and have matching input plugs on your TV. The input plugs are usually found on the rear of most TVs, although some may be found on the side or front of the TV.

    • 3

Turn the 8mm camcorder on, and insert the 8mm tape into the camcorder.

    • 4

Turn your TV on and select the appropriate input source for the camcorder through the TV's menu.

    • 5

Press the "Play" button on your camcorder and enjoy the movie.
