How many stars are discovered each year?

There are many different types of stars, and different types of stars are discovered at different rates. Brown dwarfs, which are stars that are too small and cool to sustain fusion, are thought to be very common, and several hundred new brown dwarfs are discovered each year. Red dwarfs, which are also quite small and cool, are somewhat more rare, but still several dozen new red dwarfs are discovered each year. Stars hotter and larger than red dwarfs are rarer, but some are still discovered each year, especially as technology improves and astronomers are able to peer deeper into the Universe.
