What were Reverend Parries motivations for accusing others in his community of witchcraft?

Reverend Parris never actually made any accusations of witchcraft in his community. In fact, in the town record for Salem when a woman named Sarah Good came to court over child custody she made the claim that witchcraft was taking place by other people and called Reverend Samuel Parris' wife a 'Witch'.
