- Breaker bar
- Socket wrench
- 36 mm socket
- Extension
Instructions
1. Disconnect the battery. This is a safety precaution to ensure that the engine does not start while you are working on the fan nut.
2. Remove the plastic shroud that covers the fan. This is usually held in place by a few bolts or screws.
3. Locate the fan nut. The fan nut is located on the front of the engine, behind the fan. On the 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee, it will be a 36 mm nut.
4. Place the socket wrench on the fan nut.

5. Use the breaker bar to loosen the fan nut. Hold the socket wrench in place with one hand and turn the breaker bar with your other hand. Slowly apply force until you feel the nut loosen.
6. Once the fan nut is loosened, use the socket wrench to remove the fan from the engine.
7. Be careful when removing the fan not to damage the radiator.
8. Replace the fan and the fan nut using the same method you used to remove them.
You may also need to use a penetrating oil to loosen the nut.
