Search in the town hall. Town hall records are made available to the public, and by using information like an accurate birth date combined with a full name, you can search marriage, divorce and obituary records to find people. Even if you only have a woman's maiden name, you should still be able to search the records.
Browse online search utilities (see Resources). There are numerous online databases that store information from public records including addresses and phone numbers for up to 10 years.
Enter the birth date and name of the person you are searching for into the database and search. You may incur several results, as there are likely numerous people with the same name and birthday. Knowing the person's general location will narrow down your results.
Enter a valid credit card or PayPal account to buy access to contact information on the results. Once your search is paid for you, you can access full results, including detailed information on the person's current location, if that information is available.
Validate correct contact information by placing a phone call, or sending a letter to the contacts on your list until you locate the person you're searching for.
Consider hiring a private detective (PI) to do the work for you. You can sit down and talk to a PI, or employ one of the many online detective services that will do all the legwork for you for a fee. This option is far more expensive than performing the search yourself, but in emergency and medical situations, it may be best to employ a professional.
